2008 Information

Federal Offices

• File with the Secretary of State's Office.

State Offices

• State Candidates may file with the Secretary of State's Office or the County Auditor's Office of the county in which the candidate resides.
• The Crow Wing County Auditor's Office is located at 326 Laurel Street, 2^nd Floor, Historic Courthouse, Brainerd.
• Filing fees for state representative offices are $100.
• Filing fees for judges are $300.
• Filings are accepted starting 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, during regular office hours.  County offices will be closed on the 4^th of July Holiday. 

County Offices

• Offices on the ballot for 2008 are:
• County Commissioner District 1
• County Commissioner District 5
• Soil & Water Conservation District 1
• Soil & Water Conservation District 4
• Soil & Water Conservation District 5
• Filing fees for county commissioner offices are $50.
• Filing fees for soil and water conversation district offices are $20.
• Filings are accepted starting 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, during regular office hours.  County offices will be closed on the 4^th of July Holiday.

City Offices

• All cities will have council member races and/or mayoral candidates on the ballot in November.
• Filings for city offices open at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, and close 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008.
• The filing fee for City of Brainerd offices is $5, all other cities have a $2 filing fee.
• File with your city clerk.

Township Offices

• The following townships will have officer races on the ballot in November:

• Filings for township offices open at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, and close 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008.
• The filing fee for township offices is $2.

School District Offices

• School Board member races will be held in the following districts:
• ISD 1 – Aitkin
• ISD 182 – Crosby-Ironton
• ISD 186 – Pequot Lakes
• ISD 480 – Onamia
• ISD 482 – Little Falls
• ISD 484 – Pierz
• ISD 2174 – Pine River-Backus
• Filings for most school district offices open at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, and close 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008.
• NOTICE:  ISD 482 (Little Falls) has passed a resolution calling for a primary election in any year there are more than two candidates for a specified school board position or there are more than twice as many school board candidates as there are at-large school board positions available.  Therefore, ISD 482 school district office filings begin 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, and ends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008.
• The filing fee for a school district office is $2.
• File with your school district clerk.

Cuyuna Range Hospital Board

• Board member races will be held in the following cities/townships:
• At-Large
• City of Fifty Lakes
• City of Ironton
• City of Riverton

• Filing fees for hospital board positions are $2.
