| There has been a lot of information in the media lately about the H5N1 virus (bird flu). There is the possibility this virus could mutate and be transmitted from human to human and not just bird to human as is happening now. It could become the next pandemic influenza. There is also the possibility that this won't happen, but another virus could emerge in the years to come. Historically we have had several influenza pandemics each century and it is difficult to predict when the next one will occur. Crow Wing County is currently working with state and local partners to prepare for the next pandemic but there are things we all can do as individuals and families to prepare. Listed below are links to resources available to help with pandemic influenza planning and also links to help individuals and families plan for any type of emergency (i.e. tornadoes, floods, ice storms etc.) |
