County Island Park on Rush Lake

County Island Park is located on Rush Lake which is on the Whitefish Chain just west of Crosslake, Minnesota. The remote landing access to the park is located on the east side of County Island. Access to the island is by water craft only. There are few amenities, however this island offers scenic tranquility and is visited by bald eagles regularly.

Milford Mine Memorial Park
"The history reads like a science fiction novel."  Was this someone's bad dream? Not by a long shot, it was one of America's worst mining disasters and it happened right here.  This is the site that on February 5, 1924, forty one miners lost their lives.  On that fafeful day a mine shaft collapsed allowing a flood of water and mud to fill an underground network of tunnels.  The 200-foot Milford Mine had multiple levels with one shaft leading to the surface.  Only seven men made it to the surface alive.      Milford Mine Memorial Park Plan
