Sheriff Todd Dahl is a native of Minnesota who was born in Crosby and raised in Brainerd. Sheriff Dahl graduated from Brainerd High School in 1983 and went on to four years of college at Bemidji State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2005, he graduated from the intensive two-month FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The Sheriff began his law enforcement career as a part-time Water Patrol Deputy and was hired full-time in 1987. He has served in many roles including supervising our Boat and Water Division and was also responsible for the Dive/Rescue Team as well. He was a long time Patrol Sergeant and an active member of the Tactical Team serving for many years as Team Leader.
Sheriff Dahl has over 21 years of law enforcement experience and has attended numerous instructor and leadership development schools. He has been an instructor for Central Lakes College and Hibbing Technical College and has worked as a trainer for the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board. As a veteran trainer, the Sheriff has a passion for passing on what he has learned to his fellow officers to help them excel and keep them safe on the street.
Sheriff Dahl is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Minnesota Sheriff's Association, National Sheriff's Association, Minnesota Police and Peace Officer's Association as well as Ducks Unlimited, Brainerd Sports Boosters, Brainerd Sertoma Club, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, National Korean Martial Arts Association, Special Olympics/Polar Plunge Area Board of Directors and Past President and current member of the Crime Victims Impact Panel.
