The Investigations Unit is comprised of officers who are responsible for the investigation of serious crimes that occur in Crow Wing County.  As a reflection of the increasingly complex nature of police work the investigators have become more specialized in their duties.  The Investigations Unit consists of two specialized units: General Investigations and the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division (LADID). General Investigators are responsible for conducting a wide variety of criminal investigations.  Examples include homicides, sexual assaults, aggravated assaults, child protection cases, burglaries, thefts, financial crimes, and computer crimes.  Investigators are also responsible for processing crime scenes as well as evidence identification and preservation. LADID consists of Investigators from the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office, the Brainerd Police Department and the Baxter Police Department.  LADID Investigators conduct investigations into the illegal sale and use of narcotics in Crow Wing County.  They work in close cooperation with other local, state, and federal drug units in their effort to detect and apprehend drug offenders.
